October 22, 2015 article
This is an article on data visualization that shows the number of casualties on the road in an interactive chart.
The screen that I show is a static screen, but check the article body through the link
You can see an interactive chart that changes shape each time you move the mouse cursor.
You can select the year 2007, 2010, 2013 to see the figures for that year,
If you click one of the continents in the legend, you can see the trend of the continent and the detailed figures of each country.
Let’s take a look at what you’re talking about through dynamic charts.
Death on the road
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), about 125 million people die every year from road traffic accidents.
Since 2007, when measurements were first made by the World Health Organization, the population and number of vehicles have increased, but the number of traffic accident deaths remains relatively uniform.
But most were preventable accidents, especially in poor countries.
One of the UN’s sustainable development goals is to halve the number of traffic accidents by 2020.
The death toll from road accidents is higher than that of women worldwide and is the number one cause of death among people aged 15 to 29.
Poor and middle-class countries that own only half of the world’s vehicles but have 90% of the deaths have to pay 3% to 5% of GDP to improve it.
Africa is the most dangerous area for pedestrians.
Of course, it is not easy to make effective changes.
This year, the government of India has released a new road safety bill, but it is being criticized because it has a fines and punishment that is too low and it is currently having difficulty in negotiating.
Road safety is a priority in developing countries, given the fact that there are more and more deaths from road accidents than deaths from illnesses such as malaria and AIDS.
