Google has updated its data analysis and visualization capabilities with the Google Sheet, a cloud-based spreadsheet authoring tool.
On Tuesday, Google said it has enhanced charting, filtering, and pivot table functionality on its sheet through the Google Docs blog ( http://goo.gl/7v5Yj8 ).
With this update, Google Sheet users will be able to add data labels to display the correct values in the bar graph or the line graph. You can also change the style of each point in the line graph to various shapes such as triangles, stars, and pentagons, and you can distinguish it more clearly when you draw several lines.
The update also included the ability to provide immediate preview results when entering formulas. Google explained that this feature will help you quickly spot errors.
Users are also able to filter rows and columns under various conditions. It is possible to select only the data required by the user, such as when the number is greater than or less than a specific number, or when a specific character is included.
PivotTables now have the ability to create calculated fields. There is also a function called get pivot data (GETPIVOTDATA) that derives values from a pivot table that matches the heading of the specified row overheat.
Collaboration features have also been upgraded. Added a feature that helps prevent a mistake by popping a warning message before a coworker changes cell.
